Back Up & Restore App Data:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Personal” and tap “Backup & Reset
  3. Enable “Back up my data” to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
  4. Enable “Automatic Restore” to allow app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with your backup account

Back Up & Restore Contacts:

  1. Open “Contacts
  2. Access “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and the account you want to use for the backup
  4. Ensure “Contacts” is checked
  5. Tap “Menu” > “Sync Now

NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be automatically restored the next time you sign in with your backup account or by manually syncing the account data – and contacts – with the phone.

Back Up Media Files on a PC:

  1. Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
  6. After the transfer completes, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” at the prompt or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the PC
  4. Navigate to the media backup files on the PC storage
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the “Ringtones” and “Notifications” folders
  6. Once the transfer completes, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
