Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “Device
  3. Tap “Battery
  4. Tap “Menu” and enable “Battery saver

Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Open “Settings” and go to “Display
  4. Optionally, turn “Adaptive brightness” ON or OFF
  5. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower value

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn the phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use – including Wi-Fi, Location (GPS), and Bluetooth – to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features Off
  3. Launch “Settings” and go to “Location” for more options
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving
  5. For Hotspot options, return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  6. Tap “Tethering & portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks
  3. Tap “Mobile networks
  4. Access “Preferred network type” and enable “2G

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Apps” and ensure “All apps” is selected
  3. Tap the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force Stop” to turn the app off
  5. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.

  1. Open “Settings
  2. Access “Personal” and tap “Accounts
  3. Select an account type and account
  4. Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Keep the OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Launch “Settings
  2. Go to “System updates
  3. Check if new updates are available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process
