One thing about Blackberry is they tend to control the network a little tighter than Palm.
This means more to network operators than the consumer but, it makes encryption better and allows for more reliable conntections.

there many 3rd party apps now available for Blacberry's. Not as many as for the treo's but they do exist and help make the blackberry just as functional as a treo..... with less software issues...

The Treo 650 does support push-mail. Use the 3rd party software and connect to your server that supports push mail (IMAP). I have a Treo 650, and have no problems getting my pop or push-mail. The POP3 mail can be set to retrieve every 5 minutes if you want, so you do not really need push mail unless you want to keep a large amount of mail the the IMAP server.

The big advantage of the Treo over the Blackberry si the ability to add 3rd party applications to the Treo. There are thousands of applications for the 650, while the Blackberry is proprietary.

I have had a blackberry and you do not have to change your email address. All you do is forward your email to your BB. (works with Earthlink for sure) With the BB the push mail is a real blessing. As soon as it hits your server it is on your BB. It's awsome. With a Treo there are a couple of 3rd party programs out there like Snappermail or Chattermail. They both offer their services which are coming real close to what BB offers now for "push email". Although they are a tad pricey. There are now programs offered for the BB that allow you to view, edit and email Word, Excel files and see PDF's. Also, Treo's have a software issue that could bug many people. I own a 650 myself. i have had 3 different phones due to software problems. Freezing, phone turning off on it's own, shutting down all together, sync problems. Palm OS is not perfect by any means. When my phone works though it is the greatest. But when it is being "emotional" as i like to call it. It is very frustrating. Now the 700 with Windows could be a huge improvement over the Palm software, but i would wait and see what kind of bugs it develops. Wait till they work most of those out before you dive into a pricey phone like that.

From what people have told me, Treos don't have great reception. But I don't know this for sure.
With their email system, you actually have to sign up for a new email address, and if you want your old email to foward to it, check to see the settings for your email because many web-based email services won't be recognized by Blackberry.

That is absolutely NOT the #1 difference. Though I must remain completely unbiased when it comes to this, the Palm Treo 650 is a far superior and accomodating PDA.

The Palm operating system (blackberry's sucks), though a little more complicated has far more possibilities for alterations and upgrades than that of the crackberry*. You have the option to load a Windows 95-like program onto it, which makes navigating much more familiar.

Also, the ability to load new programs on your own (ie: outlook, word, excel, ect.) makes recieving and altering work documents much easier.

But if you really want a kickass PDA, hold out for the Palm Treo 700. It's gonna be dope.

Yea, like Abom said. What features are you looking for? What carrier do you currently use?

I read most of the functions of Blackberry from this forum, however, what is palm then? Which one is better for businessman? Does palm also has same functions on black berry such as receiving emails in real time?
