I can't give a testimonial on either one, I've only used a 650 briefly at the Sprint Store. I can however, point you in the direction of a site that can compare specifications. You may also find reviews on each phone and see what other people are saying. I don't know what this 700p is or what makes it different from the 700w (I noticed a larger screen resolution) but I just stuck all three into a side-by-side comparison, and here are the results:

    Compare Phones (Phone Scoop)

Maybe that will give you some insight into your inquiry until Cell Mansion is online next.

Why do you say that? I was thinking about getting a Treo 700 (they come out on the 29th), but your comment intrigues me. What exactly are the differences btw the 650 and 700?

That does it. I'm switching and will buy the new Treo if and when it comes out on Sprint.

The Treo does not require a data plan, only Vision, unless you're going to use it connected to a PC/laptop for "Phone-as-modem". The data plan for that is $39.99 unlimited usage.

The Vision Plus package will cover all your data needs, it includes unlimited web, picture mail, video mail, and a few other perks. It's pretty reasonable too, I think I pay $15/month on my first phone and $7.50 on each additional phone in the plan for Vision Plus. To take full advantage of that web access, I'd recommend http://mini.opera.com which can browse a lot of sites the WAP browser cannot. I use opera on my phone when I need to view a site the WAP browser can't display, but I still use the WAP browser a lot too.

I'm thinking of switching to Sprint from Cingular and want a PDA/phone. Might hold out until the 700p or might get the 650 now and upgrade later.

I'm unclear about the data plans required with the Treo. When I tried to purchase online with plan it only asked me to pick a Vision Plan, not a data plan. And so the monthly cost was very reasonable.

I had looked at Verizon but their data plans were quite expensive. I'm currently with Cingular and my Blackberry data plan is hugely expensive.

What are my options with Sprint and a Treo if I want to access the web, download email a couple times a day and use PIM functions? How cheaply can I get away?
