Thanks, Brad--let me know if you find out anything. The phone is pictured and described on the Sprint site. It does not have bluetooth, but that's not a factor for me. It does describe some features that look interesting though--maybe I'll be able to limit calls to and from my daughter's boyfriend!

Here is the product description: http://www.sanyo.com/wireless/handse...productID=1252

I couldn't find much on the SCP-3100 either, it seems to have only been submitted to the FCC a little over a month ago, and their site did not give me any information on features. Somewhere I saw that it might not have bluetooth. There also seems to be some confusion over whether this phone is a PM-3100 or a SCP-3100 (I found this link that pictures the phone but calls it a PM-3100.

Well, that's all I've found but you've piqued my curiosity so I'll keep looking for more info.

Thanks for the links to phone scoop! After researching and comparing, I was all set to get the VI 2300. The only thing that turned me off was the tiny display on the outside of the clamshell--I need my glasses to see the much bigger one on my current phone. Then the guy at the sprint store told me that they're going to have a deal starting Wed. with the Sanyo SCP-3100. He said it was the same phone with a bigger outer display, and with a camera, and that it's available in a variety of colors. It's a "buy one get one free at $50. I don't care about the phone or the colors, but my daughter started salivated at the idea of upgrading her 2 year old phone "for free". I can't find anything on phone scoop about the phone. Again, my aim is better reception and battery life, along with good ergonomics. I have a camera, and don't play games or with ring tones.
    Any thoughts?

I've heard several others comment on their good reception with a Sanyo phone on Sprint, and as far as battery life, that link to phonescoop.com is a great way to compare phones. Use their Phone Finder tool to search current and upcoming Sprint models, and compare up to 5 at a time for all available features including battery life.

When I carried Sprint previously, out of all the phones that I had purchased over the years, Sanyo had given me the most satisfaction. Great reception and battery life. Click the link to see a few that are currently offered:

I'm looking for a new sprint pcs phone. I don't care about bells and whistles (games and ring tones, camera, etc.) I just want to use this as a phone.
Poor reception has been a problem at my work and in certain locations in my home. I was able to get an expanded plan that includes free non-sprint roaming, and that has improved the situation somewhat. My phone battery seems to discharge very rapidly, also, needing to be recharged at least every other day, despite the fact that I don't use it all that much. I think the fact that it has to search for a signal so often has something to do with this.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for which phones to look for or stay away from at the Sprint store.
