I read this thread out of sheer curiosity. Motorola Phone Tools is still the way to go. Don't be cheap, you'll find it's well worth the money. I can't believe all the earlier posts and no one suggested MPT. It's been around for years and is the only commercially sold software that bypasses ALL Bell's security for uploading to and downloading from YOUR phone. Pix, MP3's, Video, Ringtones, name it it'll do it. I even had it working with an IR connection to a Nokia 6275i I had for a short time.

People spend the money on the downloads, but they won't spend the money on a program that will allow you to download the 'free' content from the internet legally, and upload it to your phone, go figure!

wow, sorry-- i know this post has not been accessed for years, but i'm wondering if this stuff is still valid? and what program (free?) people are using for mp3-midi conversions-- thanks for the help.

Another option is purchasing Motorola Mobile Phone Tools. Ask for Motorola Phone tools at your mobile retailer. This is an excellent piece of software which allows you to transfer pictures, ringtones, contacts, calendar entries and allows you to do more with your phone. Its only $65 CDN at Bell World stores in Canada. If you cannot find a retail location that sells Motorola Phone Tools you may purchase them here direct from BVRP (The company which makes MPT) -> Motorola Phone Tools : discover and buy Motorola PhoneTools Deluxe for Motorola users

I have the E-815 and have done the following to get ringtones on the phone. This is for VZW subscribers...

    1. Rename the .MP3 to .MID - Needs to be an MDI file
    2. Email it to [email protected] (This is VZW's Picture and multimedia emailer)
    3. When you receive the message, use the right arrow to go to part 2 of the message, the ringtone should play
    4. Click the menu button and select store or save (don't remember the actual key)
    5. The ringtone will play and the right quick key will say store. Click store
    6. You then are prompted with Store or Set as ringtone, choose the set as ringtone option.

    That is all

This thread is not even about your phone, and as I have said multiple times, go back and read the replies to the threads you have already posted in. I have answered the same question for you at least 5 times today, you're not reading!

you need to give that file a false extension of .mid before you send it

OK, I found a way to get that ringtone onto my phone:

-created a multimedia message, inserted a voice record of the ringtone i want, sent it to a bogus #, went to my outbox and while it played, i stored it.
-now it's stored in my Sounds folder but for the life of me, I can't figure out a way to assign it as a Ring ID

    can anyone help with this?

no experience with your carrier - but try sending yourself a midi or jpg file - let's just see what happens then!

I changed the extension to .mid but the problem is that I don't have a memory card and Bell Mobility (damn them) has restricted access to sites that allow uploading of files (probably to force subscribers to pay for ringtones thru the Bell site rather than get them for free)

I've tried emailing the file to my phone and I do get the message but it says: "attachment was lost". I've also tried going to the sites that Brad729 suggested but my mobile browser restricts access to these sites

So if anyone knows how to unlock this access or provides me with a surefire way to get this freaking ringtone onto my phone I will weep with joy and give you as much rep cred or whatever you guys call it as needed.

that memory card isn't just for ringtones... you can take a LOT of pictures (I'm amazed at how often I use it) and it will allow you to take videos that are longer than 15 seconds as well..

are you working with only mp3 tones? You may have to change the extension on the file to .mid for it to recognize it as a ringtone (or maybe that's just Verizon?)

there are several other uploaders online... most of them have ridiculous size limitations. please dont give up... just keep looking for a different uploader. hope it works out for you...

OK, I'm about to throw this f**king phone out the window.

I went to that site, followed the instructions and when I went to my mobile's browser, it said "Requested Page Not Available" which means that Bell Mobility has locked access to subscribers from getting free ringtones

I guess I'm stuck with Bell's assfist standard ringtones unless I pony up the $ and get a memory card (which I really don't want to do just for ONE ringtone)

    Thanks anyway for your help
