hi there, thanks u have been so helpful!!! i think i will just go with the d600 not d600e as i will probably be staying in a villa and we're hiring a car so wont really be in a busy area really and a couldn't go without my mobile!! Here in Scotland i dont think any of oranges Cell masts even support EDGE so i dont see why orange have lowered their band from quad to tri and put EDGE on their phones??

Here in Florida, Cingular uses the 850mhz band heavily in areas they cover. T-Mobile only uses 1900mhz, so if you used them and stayed in their coverage area, you would probably be okay, BUT T-Mobile doesn't have the best coverage outside major cities and when they roam they use Cingular's 850mhz band. So, yeah it's kind of important to have or you will probably find a lot of "dead zones".

HI there all, i'm just new to this site, i am badly needing help as i am so confused. I am from the UK and going to stay in florida for about a month, i was planning on buying the new samsung d600 which is a quadband, because i'm with orange i was going to get it from them only to discover they only sell the D600e version which is edge enabled but only triband. The d600 works on americas 850MHz and 1900Mhz but the d600e would only work on americas 1900MHz. the D600e is cheaper but i really need to use my phone in florida, can anyone help me with this? does anyone know what bandwith is used in florida to see if it is worth me buying the d600??
    thanks
