The best program I can recommend is >dBpower Amp<, it's free for 30 days and then you have to purchase a license (only $14). If you REALLY don't want to spend any money, there are free ones at download.com, but you'll have to run your spyware zapper after you install the freeware to test them because they are often bugged. Just try the link above and you'll be happy.

Eh, well I bought the phone today from Radioshack and they told me 30 days.

Sprint has very good coverage in Jacksonville and along the highways between places, but as I mentioned before, geological factors can affect reception, and the reception in my neighborhood is drowned out by a bunch of huge oak trees, plus my house is of an older construction that seems to block reception no matter who your provider is. I get 2 bars standing on my front porch, but with my repeater I get 3-6 bars inside!

I bought a cheap one, because I am also between two towers, but the furthest of them is only 4 or 5 miles. I didn't need a powerful setup and didn't want to invest a lot of money. However, it is possible with the right amplifier/repeater device and the right antenna to get reception up to 50 miles from a tower! Depending on how much money you want to invest, you can buy one for the home or for your vehicle, but make sure you know which band your carrier uses. In the case of Sprint, "PCS" is by definition, the "1900mhz" band.

Wilson Cellular <~ Highly recommended products of superior quality!

Cell Booster Store <~ It was cheap but seems to work fine for me.

That's too bad, I know there isn't one service provider that's right for everyone, but I personally love Sprint. They do have good roaming coverage, don't they? When you dial a 7-digit number, does the roaming tower identify itself? They will usually tell you whether they belong to Verizon, Alltel, or whatever. That might be who you want to consider for your carrier if they seem to be the one "filling in the gaps" for Sprint. Of course, that would limit you to other CDMA carriers, which I personally think have good coverage in rural areas, but how are Cingular or T-Mobile in your area?

I had the same idea, "what the heck it's worth a try", right? Well, I peeled mine out of my phone when I read a thread here where someone claimed they could detune the phone's antenna. Honestly, when I took the thing out, the phone worked as well as it did before. I didn't notice any reduction in my signal.

That's awesome to know. Thanks for the prog.

My provider is sprint (Cause I didn't wanna buy the phone outright and then go to a different company, that's expensive) and I live in Tomahawk Wisconsin Zip = 54487. Worthless! I once heard someone say if it were actually made of a conductive metal it might de-tune your internal antenna, and that would also be pretty bad if it were in fact true!

There are "boosters" that you plug into the wall, stick an antenna on the side of your house, and they pick up a signal outdoors, then amplify/repeat it inside. They make these for the car as well, it's all a matter of how much you want to spend to have good reception. I spent around $300 for an okay setup, my reception indoors is now better than standing outside, whereas I used to get really poor service and roaming indoors. Let me go dig up that link now...

(Our site's search feature ROCKS.) CPF Search is AWESOME!!! Try It!!!

Nah, don't worry about it! Everyone is a "newbie" once. Welcome to the site, check the links in my signature and you'll be a "phone addict" in no time. Let me know who your service provider is, maybe a state/province or postal code? Then I might be able to give you more to go on.

I recently got the Samsung A900 and I found out that you can't use songs from your computer as ringtones, my question is :

Is there any cell phones out there (Good ones =\) that have the ability to do that?

I only ask because I have 30 days to decide if I wanna keep this phone or get a different one. I do like the phone but I get barely okay reception. Which brings me to my next question :

Do Antenna Boosters really make a difference?

I figure if I can at least get 3 bars I'd be happy with that.

I apologize if these are in the wrong forums, but I have no idea where to post questions as general as these. Thank you for any help you can provide.
