I hope this site stays up. I know that it is hard to keep up a good server with alot of traffic.

yeh, we just got a nice hp proliant quad processor opterons. The thing is a beast with 4 173gb hot swaps and 15gb of ram. But I don't need something like that.

I got a good deal on the xeons. I've heard good things about both.

The new server should be able to handle about triple the traffic. It's a dual xeon 3.2 with 2 73gb SCSI drives and 2gb ram running RHE 4. It's also almost double the price of the older, current machine.

I rather not give out exact numbers, but I'll say that it's enough to need a heafty dual processor machine
What made you get the intels? On my site I used to run Dual Xeons, Now I switched to Dual Opterons, alot faster

Just out of curiousity, how many visits does CPF average a month? Also, how much more traffic can these new servers handle?

I'm all about web development and related topics, so successful sites like CPF always tickle my fancy LOL

Recently we have been experiencing high load on our server do to massive amounts of traffic. To remedy this we have purchased a new, more powerful server, which is awesome. It will be more than able to handle the load.

Things will be transferred over within the next couple of days. (probably at night) You may experience some downtime when the switch is done and things propagate.

    Thank you for your patience.
