I currently use the MDA with the T-Mobile Total Internet add-on plan and the internet works very nicely. I have average speeds of around 100-115kbps and a peak of 170kbps with EDGE/GPRS.
Yes I have checked it out, and it has impressive features, but a PDA is not my style at all. Anything with a touchscreen is too organizer-ish for me, I'm just sixteen years old, actually. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

You probably will not see 3G from T-mo in your area for quite awhile. Do not worry about it if your phones only last a few months.
And I can see that a flashlight might be nice, but why base your purchas on whether a phone has one or not? Get a LED light to go on your key chain and go for wifi.
I like my phones to last me until they break, my w800i was a good 9 months. The LED light is not a deal-breaker, just a major convenience (I don't carry my keys up with me to my room at night, I hang them on the hook). For a wifi browser, I am perfectly happy with the PSP... At home is the only time I would ever use wifi, and if I ever need to I can use the Playstation and it's beautiful screen. Afterall, I don't really play games on it, gotta justify it's purchase somehow. On the w800i I used WAP GPRS excessively with T-mo's excellent unlimited data plan, so EDGE should satisfy me.

I'm looking for a phone with autofocus, flash, at least a 2MP camera, and EDGE... Preferably a next-gen phone, but I may end up settling with the w810i.. My problem is I have found some great phones I like, but none of them were perfect, obvious buys like the w800i was at the time I bought it.. for example, right now I am really interested in Samsung's D830 clamshell, but it's a mere 9.9mm... Samsung already has a bad reputation for battery, but the fact that this super slim flip is not even a centimeter thick is very worrying.. Anyone know anything about the battery or release date? I'm looking into this one very seriously. Any other reccomendations would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, didn't know where to post this.

Please help: I recently went swimming with my w800i, I did not realize it was in my pocket until an hour after i got out of the lake. Needless to say, it's bricked. However, after taking it apart and blowdrying it, and putting it back together, I have got it to turn on all the way to the main screen once, but just once... then of course it froze, a common problem i have with my w800i when i turn it on (something to do with the memory card, i have over 200 games on it). After a day it's just fine, this always happens when i first boot it up. but it ended up dying before an hour was up, then it wouldn't turn on at all. a few days later i got it to light up, but all i got was the sony ericsson start up screen, and nothing more. I removed the battery and tried again, but it was bricked again. I'm thinking my main problem may be the battery, but i'm not about to order a 50 dollar battery with the likelihood that that isn't even the problem. Anyway, i've pretty much given up hope on my SE, and have been looking at new phones...

I have been researching phones extensively, I am kind of a phone geek, like most of us. The camera in a phone is very important to me, and i have found two phones that appeal to me: the k790i and the nokia n93. I was leaning more towards the k790i, but the same day my w800i bricked out, so did my PSP with no reason, it just bricked. I use my PSP alot for web browsing (not gaming), and now i have no wifi web-browser. This has made me look at the n93 with alot more consideration, because of it's wifi capabilities (I assume it can browse the web with wifi, not just use wifi to connect with devices - PLEASE correct me if i am wrong). Another phone i have also been considering is the w810i - advantages are I wouldn't have to wait for it's release, it is much cheaper, and it has the flashlight function that I loved very much in the w800i. I assume the k790i has no flashlight function, with it's xenon flash (again, please correct me if i am wrong - i scoured the internet, no one has mentioned flashlight function in k790i).

anyway, here is the problem with the carrier. I have T-Mobile, with a sweet unlimited data plan. They are operating on an EDGE network now, but I have discovered they may switch to 3G very soon: they are attending an FCC auction for new mhz spectrum, on which t-mobile hopes to launch a 3G network. the auction is on june 29th (if my memory serves me). My main problem is, the k790i comes in two variants - a 3G version and a EDGE version without 3G. I do not want to buy the k790i only to have t-mobile announce their 3G network a month later.. i try to use my phones until they brick (about 9 months max for me.. I'm kind of rough), and buying a new phone is a huge deal for me. My main concern is this: if t-mobile buys new spectrum at the FCC auction, will they drop their EDGE network, and switch to 3G only? And if they switch to 3G, how long will this take them?

Also, does anyone know if the k790i or n93 have a flashlight function? this is a very big deal for me, the flashlight is the reason i'm considering just buying the w810i.. but very hesitant because the w810i is not a next-gen phone

I called t-mobile customer support, and the reps didn't even know FCC was holding an auction.. I know i'm not dreaming this though, it's on the internet, and t-mobile has clearly stated they intend to buy new spectrum if they can afford it, and they said they will have 3G by the end of 2006, definetly in 2007..

please help.. its pretty unhealthy to be stressing out as much as i am about this, but my cell is a huge deal to me.. at the moment i am using my old old SE T68i, and it's driving me crazy
