Optus does to int roaming but I found the problem, I dont know why but for some reaosn the sharp phone would register it but when I tried to TXT or call it would fail. After about 3 hours it would no longer have any singal. Then today it wouldn't register the network at all. Since i live up in the mountains I have limited service. Well I guess I live really close to an OLD AT&T tower. My cingular prepay phone after about an hour stops having the cingular logo and changes to the At&t Wireless logo.

When I go down my mountain to where the cingular towers are the cingular prepay changes to cingular again and then the optus prepay picks up service and roams on cingular, with all the features working.

So I guess the tower near my house is just old or isnt working right. And for some reason the sharp would attempt to roam on the tower then just stop trying.

    But problem solved.

Not to be mean but that doesnt answer the question. I live here and have a plan, I never wanted to use it here. I am just wondering why it doesnt work in some but works in others.

why do you want to use your int. roaming here in the u.s. and that's very expensive. just buy a prepaid sim AT&T, CINGULAR,T-MOBILE and that will save you some money.

Hi I bought a Optus Prepaid Sim while doing my usual trips to australia and I have used the international roaming with the sim in the US. I usually used a unlocked sharp gx10i. But When I went to put it into a unlocked Nokia 6200 (previously locked to only At&t sims) it wont set to roam to cingular. I do a manual network search but it only comes up with At&t Wireless and it doesnt let me set that as an option... I Can use the sim and roam here in the states with other phones. For some reason not this one though. So it isnt the sim nor the service. Its the phone...

    Help? Thanks.
