I can't get to the communications tab from the general setup. Do you know if there's any other way this can be done?

    Thanks!

Here is a more concise and easier to follow set of instructions to enable the Multimedia Studio button in MPT for the Razr V3c.

You need to first make sure you are updated MPT as far as you can go. Connect the phone and launch MPT. When connected Then click on "Menu", go to "General Setup" and click the "Communications" tab. Click "Change Modem" and follow the instructions. When you get to the "detect driver" screen, put a check mark in the box next to "Do not automatically detect driver. Select from list." and click "Next".

Choose "Motorola CDMA" and scroll the list until you see "V3cm". Select this phone and click "Next". Then, simply click "Finish" and it will reload MPT. Your phone will be recognized and you will have access to the "Multimedia Studio" options.

That should resolve your MPT issues. Please note: this fix may only make the button show up on your MPT interface. It will not make the button work if you have firmware version .03 or higher.

    Good luck.

I'm pretty sure it will work
there is a version that supposedly works better
with CDMA Phones but I really don't see the difference
the one that I'm talking about is the P2K Seem V710
you can download it at Marks forums

getting back to the original (and yes, extremely old) thread topic...

i did all of that, and got the multimedia icon to show up.
mpt seems to be worknig fine, but when i click 'send to phone' it says communication failed.

is there any way to make it NOT fail?

If you have a Verizon Phone, messing with the skins can be a big hassle, I belive you need to overwrite the ones that are there with BitPim and you can't mess with the default one. It has something to do with Verizon's custom UI. I hope this helps

Ok, here's what you need to do.

Find someone with an uneditied V3c. If you have to go to your local Future Shop and beg them to let you hook an out-of-box one up to your notebook computer, then that's what you have to do. But you need an unedited one (or find someone online who has an unedited one).

Then, have them use P2K Commander and save all the files off the phone (everything in the "a" folder). Then, you take those files and upload them to your V3c, overwriting everything.

This should bring you back to factory default. You may have to have your phone re-programmed with your mobile number, I don't know as I've never had to do this before.

And learn from the mistake, next time, backup ALL files before you start playing
