Yes you will have to renew your contract if you want the phone at a discounted price. If you dont want to renew your agrement then you can buy the phone at full price or go on eBay.

Yes, I was told exactly the same thing about unlocking my phone. I was also told to go to two other forums to try and get info about a technical problem Rogers first level help, and second level help, were unable to resolve. Because of the likely length of my explanation, I will be adding a separate post about Rogers and their inane inability to resolve anything more than the most basic customer technical issues: fundamentally, they seem to have only a "CTRL-ALT-DEL" approach to every problem related to cell phones.

In some of her responses regarding Rogers unlocking phones, I note that she has never positively confirmed whether Rogers does or does not unlock phones. I have repeatedly asked Rogers to unlock my phone, I was even willing to pay a fee if necessary (not that I felt I should have to). Rogers unremittingly refused to unlock my phone stating company policy was not to: even though I paid full price for my phone and it's not tied to a subsidized contract.

So, Cherise, if you are still around, will you please confirm one way or the other whether Rogers will unlock phones, with or without a fee payable?

HEY THERE I WILL TELL YOU HONESTLY ROGERS WILL NEVER EVER GIVE YOU CODES, CINGULAR AND TMOBILE MAY OCCASIONALY IF YOU'VE BEEN WITH THEM FOR A WHILE BUT ROGERS AND FIDO NEVER EVER

Hi, i seen your posting on cell phone fourms, and i had a few questions about the sidekick 3

Can you buy a sidekick 3, unlocked, off ebay and take the sim code from your old (5 month) rogers phone and out it in the sidekick.

If you could get back to me, it would be great

Hey Cherise, another quick question: I just recently bought an new unlocked Samsung off Ebay, and a new, never used Sim card from another guy on Ebay. I currently have a 3 year Blackberry plan, which I was just able to find someone to take over so I can get out of contract without penalty. Question is: I would like to maintain ownership of my existing number, and be able to use it with my new phone & sim card on a new Rogers plan.... Whats the easiest was to go about this? My current Blackberry with sim card is going to the new owner of the contract, thats why I'm starting fresh.
