wow guyz...thx a lot for all ur help!....i think i'm gonna follow with ur advice and go wit the LG...and spum thx for notifying me about chocolate....i did look into that earlier but sadly i just dont have the time...i go off to college on the 10th of august :/...i wish i had more time and then i'd realli consider it...but the only thing i dun like about the chocolate is that its not a flip phone...therefore its screen will be scratched and damaged over the years as has happened with my old nokia phone :/...thas another reason i chose the samsung a930 and lv vx8300...thx alot for all ur insight though...

Verizon standardized their UI so the menu on the a930 will be similar to most of their phones now. The 8300 is the first phone to offer a flash UI which gives the option to change the appearance of Verizon's UI...which, I guess, is another reason to go with the 8300. Frankly, I'd wait another month until the 8500 (Chocolate) comes out. It's going to be sweet. I don't want to talk too much about it because I'm not sure what information is available, but you can see a demo of it on Cell Phone Forums - Your Cell Phone Source

Definitely the truth. I just purchased the A930 on Monday. I see all the problems. The damn menu is complicated, it's not very easy to manuever (I'm lazy), and unless you have the camera take pics at 640 x 480 and on fine, the pics aren't that great either. I've have many phones, Samsung being on of the many, and they're good for the name... but just not against an LG. Besides, internal antennae fluster me lol.

    You mean the Samsung a930?

They're both good phones, but I've had more complaints about the Samsung a930. The battery life and reception is not as good. I also had an a930 come back to me with a glitchy camera. I have yet to have an 8300 returned. On the other hand, the display on the outside of the Samsung is on all the time. You can set the 8300 so the display is on all the time, but it would drain the battery much faster. The reception on the 8300 is also better, but you wouldn't notice a difference if you live in a city.

When you boil it down, LG tends to be a more reliable manufacturer than Samsung. If you're looking into a 2 year contract, I'd lean towards LG just because of the quality of their phones in the past.

sup all, i have verizon wireless as my current provider and i am gettin these two phones for free through this deal online...so price wise, they both are the same....also their features as far as specs are pretty much the same too...therefore i am haveing a very difficult time deciding between the two, especially after reading the reviews for both of them. here are the specs for both of em:

    SAMSUNG SCH-A390:
    Technical Specifications
    Network: CDMA 800 / 1900
    Form Factor: Clamshell
    Dimensions: 91 x 48 x 25 mm
    Weight: 113 g
    Antenna: Internal
    Navigation: 5-Way Keypad
    Battery Type: 1000 mAh Li-Ion
    Talk Time: 4.00
    Standby Time: 210
    Memory: 33.0 MB
    Expandable Memory: microSD / TransFlash

    Imaging
    Main Screen: 262000 colors (TFT)
    176 x 220 px
    External Screen: 4 colors (OLED)
    176 x 16 px
    Camera: 1.3 MP / 1280 x 960 px / Swivel / Zoom / Flash / Auto-Focus / Video Recorder

    LG VX8300
    Technical Specifications
    Network: CDMA 800 / 1900
    Form Factor: Clamshell
    Dimensions: 91 x 48 x 25 mm
    Weight: 111 g
    Antenna: Stub
    Navigation: 5-Way Keypad
    Battery Type: 1100 mAh Li-Ion
    Talk Time: 3.83
    Standby Time: 384
    Memory: 28.0 MB
    Expandable Memory: microSD / TransFlash

    Imaging
    Main Screen: 262000 colors (TFT)
    176 x 220 px
    External Screen: 65000 colors (OLED)
    96 x 96 px
    Camera: 1.3 MP / 1280 x 960 px / Flash / 4X Zoom / Self-Timer / Video Recorder

so basically after looking at both of those, they pretty much are the same...however, after reading some reviews and puttin my own thought into it...this is wut i have thought of so far for each phone...plz correct me if i am wrong or help me decide on a phone...the samsung phone looks way better in my opinion than the lg phone so thas the plus for that...however the LG phone supposedly has better signal than the samsung phone but NOT THAT big of a difference when compared to the difference between them in looks...(again my opinion)....so yea...i cant decide on wut to do ><...
