    I end up installing fedora 5 core, got it working with d link card.

    Now my problem is I can't create a share with samba, I manage to get to view the root directory but unable to share a folder call Downloads in my home drive.

    Anyone think they can help me out?

    Is the IP of your router in the DNS list, had bother with that at times myself, But if you have it set up to use DHCP it should just work when you plug it in straight off.

    Yes I have two more machine that connect to the router via ethernet cable, they are both running windows XP set to automatically configured to DHCP.

    I want to connect the linux box to the router and have it access the internet.

    The cable modem should have DHCP, could be turned off, do you have any other machines connected to the router that works on the net?

    I am using a cable modem, the cable modem connects to my linksys router and from the linksys router it connects to the Mandrivia via a ethernet.

    Im using KDE.

    Is it an adsl router? Does the line broadband line go straight into it? If it does you need to set your network card to get and ip by DHCP, not set a static one.

    Are you on Gnome or KDE?

    Hey,

    I just install Mandrivia 2006 on my other box and having difficulty connecting it to the internet. I want to connect to the internet using network card connecting to my router.

    I'm new to linux and would like some of an assistance in getting online.
    If you are a guru at linux and could be of a assistance it would be much a appreciated.
