First....your probably have the old softeware version. To find out go to:

    Settings & Tools
    System (5)
    Device Info (3)
    SW Version (2)
The look at your SW Version...more importantly...the last 2 numbers listed there. For example mine is: T98VZV02

So that means I have Version 2 software becase the last 2 numbers are 02. If your's doesn't say 05, then the phone's software will not support a 2 gig card.

Go to a Verzion Store and get your phone flashed to the newest Version.

Once you do that, your phone will no longer support mp3's...but that's ok, just go in and reactivate the mp3 function.

To get your MP3 player back:

    1) Open your phone and press ok
    2) Press 0
    3) Then enter 000000 (for code)
    4) Select Music Settings (number 12)
    5) Then select MP3 Only or MP3 & MOD.
    6) Press OK

There ya go...you have your mp3 player back and the 2 gig card will also work.

Also, at this point, your phone will be able to format the 2 gig card also, so you should be go to go.

I believe it's your software on your phone that is out of date for the 2gb update.

I've heard that with this update it also removes the standard mp3 player in the phone and forces you to use a VZW player, as a warning.

So heres the problems that im trying to figure out,

im trying to be able to put/play videos and mp3s from my computer on my vx9800

I went to Fry's Electronics and bought a 2gb memory card with this USB Card Reader

    USB 2.0 Card Reader
Sava Value SACRS-13b - ALL IN 1 External Card Reader / Writer USB2.0

    MiniSD
    http://www.gfw.de/grafik/news/16794-...nisd80x2gb.jpg

    1. I tried formatting the card on my phone but it just keeps saying formatting failed

    2. I also have tried to install the CD ( Card Reader Driver ) that came with the USB reader onto my computer except it keeps saying to plug-in a reader to install the multimedia card reader utility

-is there something i am supposed to download or buy? if so what?

    3. I have called Verizon about this an i asked if the vx9800 supported 2gb cards he kept saying that they did but i keep hearing that they only support up to 1gb cards, anyway, he told me that my card is faulty and i need to get a new one, however i dont think anything is wrong with my SD card because it works fine when im transfering data from one computer to another

but if thats the case it seems like 1gb is not hardly enough space to store videos an mp3s, is there any programs that i can get that can compress my mp3s, also does the vx9800 support mpegs? if not is there any good converters out there that can convert mpegs to whatever video files the vx9800 supports

my SW Version is - t98vzv01
and I am hoping that this is the problem because i am going to a verizon wireless store tomorrow to see if i can upgrade it

I know i have alot of questions but if you guys have any suggestions or anything i can try doing i would really appreciate it
