Thanks alot made an account just to say thanks, had way to many phone numbers to try to get back. Your step by step instructions worked perfect the first time!

If your hpone is powering up then you shouldn't have a problem just using mpt to get your pics #'s etc. off your phone as far as the t5 this can be purchased at a sears, ace, gilroy's etc. If your unfamiliar with these stores anyplace that sells craftsman tools or a wide range of tools will have them.

over here in australia theres not many motorolas.

my moto v3 (razr)'s screen is black - and im going to look into it later on, probably pull it apart (can anyone direct me to where i could get this t5 tool or w/e i need to take it apart) -

but at the moment - i most urgently need to get my phone numbers of that phone, and as usual i was stupid enough to save them to the phone rather then the sim.

So could someone give me step by step for the v3 or simply tell me whether or not the steps at the top of this thread will still work for the v3 considering they are both motorolas?

anyhelp will be appreciated, and if you wish you can talk to me here --> [email protected]

thanks for any help that any of you are able to provide

Hi, I saw this topic and was wondering if I could also get some help.

My screen is also broken and I was wondering if anyone could share the keystrokes to turn on bluetooth? I have previously used it to sync my phone to my computer with 'tools but it's been a little while since the last update.

Any help or direction towards help would be appreciated.

no i was definitely the one to break it. it was doing fine and then i ripped the cable connected to the screen. not moto's fault.

See, just faulty craftmanship, not something I see alot from motorola but with these clamshell phones it seems to run rampant

I just want to say I can't believe this exists. My V551 screen is dead too and I also needed help to copy to the sim. Bizarre! but awesome thanks!

A walkthrough my not be nessasary, it seems with this model and others of it's like (v330 v300 505 and so on) the screen craps out, or so it would seem. Depending how good you are machanically and with small things (no insult intended) it could be just a loose ribbon. I've fixed my sisters and 5 others that I can remember in the last 2 weeks. I do believe it's a t5 that you'll need and a little patience. If this sounds like an option your interested in I'll gladly step you through it as best as I know how

Okay lets try this... Go to your phone book. Then hit your menu key. Arrow down (9) times (this should put you at the copy feature), Next arrow down once (1), and hit select key (right above the camera key). Then arrow down once to overwrite or simply hit the select key (same as above) to simply merge. There is a message that say only the phone numbers can be compied, so simply hit the yes key (above the Cingular guy) and it should do its thing.

Wishing you lots luck and hoping this helps. Why spend $20 on a screen when you'll probably be getting a new phone really soon.

An easy thing to do would be to find a local store that sells the V551 (Radio Shack comes to mind), and get one of their working demos and do the transfer steps side by side using the demo as the guide. *oops RS only has th v557 now if I remember right*

You can also go to one of the cell phone carriers (yours would be the best one to start with), and have them do the transfer for you using a data cable and software. Some even a machine that does this auto magically

Next option is to call up your carrier's customer service center, and have them walk your through the steps over the phone.

Or you can read the steps here ----> V551 Screen Dead... Need key strokes to save contacts to sim - Motorola Talk - Mobiledia

hey guys im new to this forum, i've had my motorola v551 for nearly 2 years and now its broken. i can make and receive calls just fine but i cant hear out of its receiver, i can only talk on speakerphone mode and now the screen went out on me. what i need help with is transferring all the numbers i had saved on the phone to the sim card (like an idiot, i had everything saved to phone). if anyone can give me a step by step process on how to do that without being able to see whats going on through the screen or if someone can direct me to a link where this has been discussed, it would be deeply appreciated.

    thanks a lot,
