The following instructions will tell you how to upload a ringtone (and games and wallpapers) to your StiMobile VI 5225 (and like your Sprint VI 5225 although ymmv).

***Note - You are hacking your phone AT YOUR OWN RISK ***

1.Take a mp3 file and converted it to a mono wav file at 8000 Hz and 16 bits using Audio Converter Software - MP3 to WAV, MP3 to WMA, WMA to MP3 Audio Converter NBFree MP3 to WAV Converter

    2. Then using Qualcomm's Purevoice converter at PureVoice Downloads, convert the file into a .qcp file.

    3. Create a file .gcd file like the one below in your favorite text editor.

    Content-Type: audio/vnd.qcelp
    Content-Name: Barking Dog
    Content-Version: 1.0
    Content-Vendor: LG
    Content-URL: barking.qcp
    Content-Size: 14970

    4. Using bitpim, look at your phones filesystem. Go to the ams directory on the phone. For me, I saw the last subdirectory was 05, so I created a subdirectory 06.

    5. I renamed the files from steps 2 and 3 to be 06.dat and 06.gcd and uploaded them into the ams directory (not the subdirectory).

    6. Save a backup of the contentInfo file. Then edit and overwrite contentInfo file in two places to recognize the new ringtone. Make sure you use a text editor like emacs so you can see the hidden characters. I added

    !C
    6
    Barking Dog
    -1

    and at the end

    !E
    ams:
    6
    Barking Dog

    7. Reboot the phone and you are done!

Follow this procedure to upload new Games and Wallpaper too!

    Enjoy!

I'm looking for software to connect my phone to my computer through my data cable. I d/l BitPim but it doesn't list my model phone. I'm rather sure I know how to make the ringtones. I've been working on that but I just can't find any software to transfer them. I'm using the sprint network. Any help would be great.
