No you won't get in trouble for having an unlocked phone. They should be able to help you set it up, at least I would think so... Sorry it's been such a pain in the butt for ya... good luck.

Ugh! I don't know what's going on. I just can't get it to work. How frustrating.

Could I actually go to a Cingular rep and get help or would I get in trouble for having an unlocked phone not from them?

All I can do is go back to that site and read the troubleshooting stuff. The correct APN is probably "proxy" (without the quotes), but the page I'm reading this from also says it might depend on which data plan you have. If you have a normal mMode plan, then input proxy to the GPRS APN settings and see if that does the trick.

EDIT: It also says for username and password, "Not applicable. If the device requires a username and password, enter the letter "a" for both".

I went to the area in the link you posted above and was able to enter everything in for mMode; however, the only blank I am having trouble with is the GPRS APN. It's Greek to me and I'm not even sure what they want. I followed the link provided and thought I entered the correct info but I guess not.

It tries to connect forever, then I get the Data Server Not Available.

No that's okay. When you get the browser open, does it do anything to press the softkeys just below the screen? We're trying to get a browser menu open so we can access and change the settings. If you can get to that menu, you're one step closer to inputting the correct settings from that site.

I have no idea. The only graphics on the outside of the phone are Motorola logos.

I'm sorry I'm so ignorant on this stuff. Thank you for being so helpful.

I doubt that, since the browser isn't configured to her provider's network it shouldn't be transmitting any data they can charge for.

    Thank you!!

I'm definitely getting farther than I was before; however, it says Launching Browser... Connecting forever, then it says Data Server Not Available.

Check out the Cingular Configurator. That link should take you directly to the setup page for former AT&T wireless customers with a Razr, scroll down to "configure your device". You may notice some minor differences in how to access the settings if your phone was branded for a different carrier, but the settings will work once you can get into the right menu.

I am technically a Cingular customer but am still on my old AT&T contract. I recently purchased an unlocked Razr v3 and have loved it; however, I'm trying to buy ringtones but can't connect to the Internet... it says the browser is not set up. It gives a list of browser options and I have tried them all.

I could connect to the internet and purchase ringtones, games, etc. on my old phone with this same contract so I'm not sure what's going on... help??
