PS, I have my own custom ringtones and games on my telus a950

went hunting through way too many posts here till I found out how to change the comm mode and then someone was nice enough to post the a body file that is just some hex that the phone uses to index the ringtones so the phone lets you use them.

At this point I'm going through the same issue of trying to figure out how to edit the gcd file for the A840.

    best of luck

with bitpim, view tab, select file system, if the slection is not there and the click on the + to get it to expand and go hunting through it from there If it will not expand and bitpim gives you and error then if may be the file comm mode on the phone if windows has the driver setup right for it.

oh and just a thought but you may have to change the comm mode on the phone, I know how for the A650.

it was in a secert menu, but once the SIO mode was changed from I think it was DS&HF to QXDM bitpim was able to talk to the phone adn read the file system.

are you trying to use bitpim's ringtone page to upload the ringtone, if you are you can stop now. Telus does not release their directory setup so people like bitpim can make their software load. yes they are trying to get you to pay for the ringtones. Thus you need to do it via the filesystem.

just a thought but, the easy way to know if bitpim is talking to you phone is if you can open the file system. If it will not in windows device manager goto the modem, and slect the phone. Then advanced tab and then advanced to find out what com port the phone really is on.

    hope it helps.

Win key + tab (assuming your using Windows XP) opens up device manager. It will be under "USB modems". Baud rate is the connection rate between the PC and the phone.
