unfortunately, mp3 cant be compressed without losing audio quality as other formats.. but cell phones doesnt plays other formats as atrac, or wma. but u can make a mp3 smaller by cutting a channel, convert it to mono, it saves a lil of disk space..

Just a bit of guideline on bitrates:

128kbps is the typical bitrate for most songs, some being 192 as well. 64kbps is really the minimum you'd want to go for. This will convert the file size to approximately half of what it was. I'd only go for 64kbps if your phone supports 32 chords or more, as it tends to sound a bit iffy on 4,8,16 and 24 chord phones. If you have a 64 chord phone (maybe a Samsung), then you might just be able to go that bit lower. If you can help it, try to make 16kbps an absolute minimum, as this sounds truely awful. Hope this helps Hidden Content .

you can lower bitrate and the frequency. Although, really, the only way to make an mp3 file smaller is by lowering the bitrate.
The ones i make for the community and for myself are usually no lower than 56kbs. And even then, on a cell phone, it sounds just as clear.

I use Adobe Audition to crop mp3s into ringtones, and I'd like to know if there is a way to make the file size smaller without lower the quality too much.

Thank ya, much appreciated Hidden Content
