I'd like to meet those people. The only time I've ever had anyone spend that much on a phone, it was for a PDA for a business account. Whenever you tell anyone that phones are $200+, you get an earful. I haven't had anyone buy the chocolate at my store because of the price. $500? Yeah right.

Nobody would pay $500 - $1000 for a phone. The manufacturers are selling phones like crazy as they are. No need to put any extra money or research into that problem.

I recently got my first cell phone and am thrilled. Let's face it, the LCD screen is ineffective outside so I hope that manufacturers are working on OLED technology in which the pixels don't depend on backlighting but glow very brightly. Manufacturers must be secretly doing research into releasing cell phones with the new screens. They won't talk about it. They must know that the LCD screen, the heart of any cellphone, can't be seen in bright sunlight. Which manufacturer will be the first to release such phones and what will the cost be? I would expect the cost to be between $500 and $1000 per unit. The cost will drop as competition and technology improves.
