It is best to just let it fully charge (2hrs.) this way you get the most out of the battery.

You should absolutely charge it 24 hours if that's what the manufacturer recommends the first time, many reviews on Amazon complain of poor battery life on these cheap unlocked phones, they most likely did not wait the 24 hours the first time, after that discharging fully and recharging fully is the best practice no matter the battery, they claim lithium ion batteries are not effected by partial discharge or charge but they are wrong for a variety of reasons.

Only 8-10 hours the first time is fine

this recovers the battery from all the time that is useless

Yes, first charge is the longest one, and it's important not to stop it... My brother's cell phone shows low battery often becouse power went off while his cell phone was charging.

Even with the newest of batteries, you must still give them a 100% complete charge the first time. It may not require a full 24 hour period, but at least 12-14 hours (however 24 hours is recommended by most manufacturers). This is due to the chemicals in the battery and the reactions of those chemicals during their first charge. The initial charge will directly affect the capacity of the battery. Not fully charging the first time can lead to the battery prematurely going bad or giving less and less talk time/standby time.

From personal experience, I haven't noticed much of a decrease in battery life from a 12 hour charge vs a 24 hour charge. But batteries I have only given a 3 or 4 hour charge initially have had a 30-40% decrease in capacity over the course of about 6 months.

Always charge your battery fully first time. If you just start playing with it and drain it first, then the battery's never going to be as efficient as it could've been.

The number your talking about is probably what you need to call to set up your phone to your network. You'll probably be put through to some person who works for the network your with. Just follow the instructions they give you and all will be fine .
