Well you can set the MyFaves ringtones without hacking anything but it's the non-MyFaves that gives you problems.

Anyway, I see what you mean. My bad.

Dunno if anyone needs this but it works. I got this from another forum... no credit to me.

    Step by step:

    1. Select the Scott Stapp song as your ringtone.
    2. Immediately go back into the mp3 list and select the song you want. (When you hit select nothing will happen)
    3. Hit Back. (It will still show the old song as the ringer... ignore that.)
    4. Hit Save.
    5. Enjoy

I've found you can set MP3's as the main ringtone as well as a different ringtone per MyFaves contact using the same method. Haven't figured out how to get it per non-MyFave contacts.
yes i know! you need 2 hack the phone but if you want 2 unlock comeplet the phone you really need to do it if you want to put everything on your phone like you five! You need to do it this phone have a lock for limited use you can set the ringtones like the way you said but if you want to unlock your five for the music you make for you phone you need to do it! and then you can see you own ringtones like the other you danwload from the t-zone you can select your other ringtone like the other you have on your phone maybe for other don't want to do it but person like me a did because i like to see everything on my phone like the ringtones i danwload from t-zone thas why! and wen you full unlock your phone you can do what ever you want whit them and you have more on your phone stuff you phone don't support and that way is comeplet unlock you phone support more than you imagen is no't nesesary to do it, but if you want you do it for you own you make the change own you'r phone.

But anyway thanks for you respond and you opinion the way you said to do it work's!

But Remenber the way i said is for full unlock the phone for your five and everything on you phone!

    Thanks Kr580,
a little too late though I've already deleted that song. Changing the files from mp3 to 3gp has worked for me.

The problem for the cell phone from t-mobile is the pus some lock to there phone for obligate the customers donwload music only for t-zone. First you need to crack or hack the phone for make the ringtones you make work in your phone as ringtones. you can find the introccions how to unlock your phone here but first you need and other sim cards to do it. if you don't do it no merer what you do if you have the rigth software in what format you make it they never work YOU NEED HACK THE PHON OR CRACK THE PHONE FIRST AND THEN YOU CAN USE YOU ONW RINGTONES MP3 AAC M4A & 3GP. IF YOU HAVE A USB CABLE OR BLUETOOTH THEY WORK YOU ONLY HAVE TO BUY THE CABLE OR THE BLUETOOTH AND THAN YOU GO AND DANWLOAD SAMSUNG SOFTWEAR , WAVE PAD OR OTHER SOFT YOU THINK IF GO TO WORK FOR YOU MAKE YOU ONW RING TONES IS THE ONLY WAY FOR MAKE YOU ONW RING TONES WORK WEN YOU CELLPHONE RING

    GOOD LOCK !!!

I found a converter called "Imtoo 3gp converter" and this program converted my files to 3gp without any errors. The files could then be set as ringtones. I still don't understand why me changing the file extension from .mp3 to .3gp didn't work but atleast I found something that does.
    Thanks everyone for your help.

    TinaBeena,
I have now bought the bluetooth adapter for my PC. I've transferred a few music files but the same problem persist. This phone will not allow me to set the files as ringtones. Why? What else can I do?

Ok...first you can't use a full mp3 as a ringtone. You will need to trim it down to like 30 seconds. (whats the use of having a full mp3 as a ringtone when the phone only rings a few times then goes to voicemail?)

I use Audacity (do a google search for Audacity) to cut my mp3's down to the apprpriate size, save them with a new name (as a mp3 of course), then use my data cable to transfer them over to the phone. You don't lose any of the quality of the song and using Audacity you can get the best part of the mp3 to play when somebody calls.

Thanks for the info Tinabeena. When you confirm that that method works for sure, please hit me up.

Hey - I am new to the site and have TMobile also. I just got the T619 today and I think if you get the data kit or buy a bluetooth, you can then get the mp3 from your PC to your cell and then select it as a ring tone. Not sure about that but I think that is the only way if you don't wanna do the process already mentioned. It kinda sucks since that is another 50 to 100 bucks for the add on accessories. But good luck!

    Mohnchichi,

So let me get this right, in order to set my mp3's as ringtones I must convert them to wave files with an mmf extension? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of having mp3's and is there quality drop off by doing this? I guess Tmobile made it next to impossible to play ones own mp3's. I'll give it a try.

    Thanks
