Go to "unknown device" and click "update driver", then point it to the cd with the drivers on it.

Your welcome. Try uninstalling all the drivers for the phone. Then go to device manager in windows, plug ur phone in, find the entry in device manager, right click it and click Uninstall. Then try the suggestion I gave above again.

That's so strange When I plug the phone in without running any software, it still comes up with the same error: "USB Device not Recognized. One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recogize it."
I have tried on two computers.
So I can't try the first option (is this because I already tried to install the drivers)?
I tried the second option, and Bitpim can't detect my phone. When I try to change the port settings, it only finds com1 (which is not my phone, I assume, because it doesn't work either). Thank-you so much for trying to help me out Do you have any other ideas? Thanks

Plug the phone into the computer without running the software, and windows should ask for the drivers. Point it at the cd drive, and it should list some files. Pick the *.inf file in the folder that has 660 in the name, then tell windows to use it. If it warns u the driver isn't signed click continue anyway. once it's installed try running the software.

If the software still doesn't work, try using http://www.bitpim.org. It should auto detect your phone.

If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask me.

    Hello

I have just installed the USB driver and PIM & File Manager 2.0 so that I can upload my photos from my phone (x660) to my computer. However, when I plug in the phone, it says "unknown device" and then when I click on that, "No drivers are installed for this device.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter."

Can anyone help to explain why it is not working? I have windows xp, I bought the cable off ebay (which said it was for x660) from a good seller. I would really appreciate your help, this is driving me crazy!
    Thanks!
    Michelle.
