Since most newer LG phones are Bluetooth capable, the feature you are talking about is essentially unnecessary. You press the button on your Bluetooth headset and the phone's voice command menu asks you to "say a command" right through the headset.

Since it is beoming illegal to drive while talking on your phone in many jurisdictions, a Bluetooth headset is vital for safe driving. Phone manufacturers know this, so they are equipping their phones for safer use.

That's really unbelievable since my 5-6 year old LG phone was programmable to go directly to voice dial when it was flipped open. You opened it and it asked you who you wanted to call. Came in very handy while driving. I guess it's more important to LG now to have games and music on their phones rather than safety features such as this.

I know you can program certain hot keys, like, for example, press down to go to the calculator, but I don't think you can do the same type of thing 'on open'.

Hey everyone. I am new here and thought maybe someone could help me with a VX8600 question. Just bought this phone this evening. On my old LG phone, I was able to set the voice prompt to kick in when I flipped on the phone. In other words, when I flipped open the phone it asked me who I wanted to call. I then said the name of the person I needed to call and it dialed the number. This was extremely handy while driving as I didn't ever have to look at the phone. Just open it and talk. No buttons to push whatsoever.

The new VX8600 has voice command dialing but it appears that you have to flip open the phone and then hit one of the buttons on the side of the phone to activate the voice command. Now for my question.....Is there any way to set this phone to go directly into voice command dialing by just flipping it open? My old LG is about 5 years old. I can't imagine that LG decided that this feature wasn't important on their new models.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
