    Hmmm
    I have an a900
    I haven't had any problems but 1 ...
After I shut it off and turn it on, my main menu's background turns into some weird colours if I set the background to a picture from my Downloads. Other than that, everything is good.

The Katana is not a bad choice ---- my sister loves hers even though the ringtones sound like a circus.

Tell Sprint to look for themselves at all the google results, you're not the only one!

It is very sporadic. I called Sprint last week and just received a replacement a900 today. They wanted to try from a different lot other than from the Sprint store I was going to.

I already manually entered my contacts. I was told it "could" be a corrupt file from the intial transfer of contacts that were transferred again to replacement phone. So in order to eliminate that possibility, I entered them all in myself (was not fun).

Sprint told me that if it happens again with this new phone, then I should think about going with a different model altogether. Only problem is, Sprint does not offer a whole lot of choices like other carriers do.

Will see how this one goes. Any more problems, you can bet that I will post them here.

Stacy, does it do that with every contact or just a few?
Maybe try adding a couple test contacts and see if it does the same thing...if it did the same thing with the replacement, and you had them mechanicly change the numbers over, than it's probablly not the phone....get then to print them out, erase them all, and do it over. Or else you'll have the same problem with you're new phone.
About the Katana: it has no mp3 player, don't do it! Really, the 900 or the 920 would be better for you...or maybe even the (gasps) Fusic. But I'd say at least the 920.

I actually was already on that site comparing them. The extra features are nice, sure, but I do not utilize them all, just the mp3, camera, and the basics. Do I need them? No, of course not, just suck up battery.

Is it just me having this comtinuous problem with the caller id? At the Sprint store, they looked at me like I was making it all up, but I swear, I can look up on contact, right now, see the name/number, hit TALK and another name pulls up for the correct phone number. I shut the phone off, tried software update - still happening. Of the 3 a900 bought together, I am the only one having this problem. And again with the replaced phone. It was suggested that I manually add the contacts in, but, do not really want to manually enter over 100 all over again.

Any other Sprint phones anyone would recommend than the ones already mentioned above? I could go back to my old a620, had no problems there, except I deleted everything out of it.

It depends on what you want to do with your phone. The Katana is a very stylish, nice looking phone, but it only has 5mb of memory, no slot for expandable memory, only a VGA camera (640x480 yuck), no video recording...

The only thing the Katana seems to have going for it are bluetooth, the large screen, and the presence of an AMPS band for those of us die-hard analog fans (lol not really, but there have been a few times in the middle of nowhere that all I could get was an analog signal and I was thankful for it).

Anyhow, I really like Sprint and the Katana is a decent phone but I don't want anyone to get mad at Sprint for failing to mention the lack of all the nice features I'd want in a phone like this. HERE is a side-by-side comparison of your a900, the a920, and the Katana. As you can see, the a920 is a very nice choice, it has all the features of the a900 plus an expandable memory slot, but none of the bizarre problems I've read about with the a900. Hope this helps!

I seem to be one of the people who is having troubles with the a900 - wrong caller id coming up with calls or wrong pic id coming up with another call or the pic assigned to an id coming up all snowy. Already replaced phone and same thing happening. I am 2 days shy of my 30 days.

I am pretty much done with the a900 and was wondering if the Katana is good. I know they have different features, and quite frankly, I am not needing those extra things the a900 has, so really looking at just the basic phone.

I did a search for Katana, but wanted someone personal opinion who has it to give me their pro's/con's. Is this a good phone to switch over to? I am locked into Sprint, as they have the best package for my 5 phones total, so switching carriers is not a possibility. Price-wise, I do not want to spend any more, but will certainly consider going downin price, I just do not want to go down in quality.

    Suggestions? Comments?

    TIA
