Isn't that funny. Unfortunately there is a lot more truth than many would like to admit in that parody.

If you watch the original Steve Jobs introduction at Moscone Center in San Francisco, there really isn't a whole lot of difference in the audience.

Apple is a cult. It's weird, but it's true.

You're right. Old technology dressed up with some eye candy and wrapped up in a box that's just too big.

This thing is gonna flop hard. Yeah sales will be brisk for awhile when the "cult of apple" tribe run out to get their fix from their messiah, Steve Jobs. But after that, sales will plummet and this thing will die a quick death. Heads will probably roll in Cupertino over the flop. Jobs may even get burned.

The cult of Apple following is an interesting anomaly to follow. One of the comedy channels did a take off on the cult of Apple followers and their messiah Steve Jobs. It was very funny. I'll see if I can find a link to it later for any of you who who are interested.

If you were to put aside the cult fetish for anything with the Jobs' Apple logo on it, and REALLLY take a critical look at the specs for this thing, you wouldn't be so impressed. Aside from some eye candy and Jobs' new Accelerometer Sensor , there's precious little that is either evolutionary or revolutionary about this thing. I've posted several critical reviews of the product but trying to get people to be objective is hard when they have their minds made up before even looking at specs or seeing a product in person. Plus being a cult member demands drinking the KoolAid regardless of what fact and science show.

Like I said, the cult of Apple is a strange anomaly.

I wouldn't be too hasty. Remember that Verizon was first approached by Apple to carry this phone and Verizon turned it down hands down.

    There are reasons.

I have my doubts how long Apple will stay in the cell phone business and I wouldn't be buying any Apple stock thinking that they'll ride the next big wave of growth on cell phone sales. I actually wonder if the iPhone may not be the undoing of Steve Jobs. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Jobs get fired over the iPhone.

Just wait, I am fairly confident that Verizon will have something for you around the time the iPhone hits Cingular (June 2007).
