its really simple ...but u might need to do a few things ur way
download ImTOO 3G Video at imtoo.com/3gp-video-converter ..might want to google it since i cant use links...srr. (its free as long as u want to)....now use the video converter wizard(faster) when u select the file were u video is ..or if u don't want to go through all that u can use
zamzar for free...to get videos from youtube use Zamzar - Free online file conversion...google it as well...srr i cant use links
when u get the video u have give it a simple name like just the name of the song... when u get ur video on the wizard select the 3G2 file name for it since the phone uses this one...u can set where the video starts and where it ends (have fun with that)...then u can upload it to ur memory card..after that u need to save the video on the same file as u do with Pics DCIM > 100SSMED and then go to ur phone and look it up on album...hit option and assign as video ringer and u have a new ring tone for u phone other than the default.

if it doesn't work for u tell me and i can make it simpler for u

If you're with Sprint, then you can get web access for one month free or even just pay for it for one month and cancel the service. That's about the only thing left for you to try. That way, you can just let the online services deal with what to convert your music into. I got tons of ring tones already and vision was free for the first month.

okay I used the above program and my song is exactly 26 sec. long and it still won't let me set it as a ring tone...it still shows it as a MP3 song when it is playing does that mean I need to change the format and how can I do that easily?

    mp3DirectCut v2.04 (freeware)

Download this software which will let you cut any part of a song out. It is very very easy to use and a very small program. I love this program.
After that, you can just use what ever it is you use to get it to your phone.

    Phone Uploader <-Rumkin Click Here.

It says even if you don't have sprint, it could still work. Why don't you just get internet for a month and just take the cost to get a butt load of ringers and other stuff you want for free. Plus you can check your email too.

yeah, bt you probably have to have web access on your phone, right? To download them? I don't have that access, and I wanted to find a way to send the file to my phone by usb cable and assign it as a ringer. Not an easy task!

bear with me if I'm beng a bit slow here, but how do I send them to my phone? When I am in Mobtime, and I go to add files, the folder where those files should be is empty. It won't allow me to open them in Mobtime so that I can send them to my phone.

Maybe the M500 just doesn't give you the capability of making your own ringers.

Mobtime is the program you need to use. The folder is empty because you haven't sent any ringtones to your phone. The built-in ringtones aren't in the same place as the custom ones. Put the songs in the folder and send them them to your phone. When it finishes unplug your phone and turn it off then on again, and you should see the ringtones.

Oh, I have also tried .MP3, of course

So, Mobtime recognized and connected to my phone, but when I open the folder on my compter to send songs to the phone, the folder *looks* empty. I can only assume that the file extensions are not supported by my phone as ringers. I have tried .m4a, .3gp, .3g2, and .wav
Does anyone have any suggestions, or can anyone help me figure this out?
    Thank you!
