Is there anything to play with kbps while converting to mp3? Can someone explain what kbps means?

i dont think its a carrier specific thing, but rather a motorola specific thing if I am not mistaken.

The ringtone database file is called "MyToneDB.db" that file is located at the root of the filesystem.

    procedure:
    • hook phone to PC and connect with p2k commander
    • transfer the ringtone to the proper folder - this is different between different firmwares, but on Verizon it will be either /motorola/shared/audio (older firmwares ex. 01.09.xx) or /motorola/shared/ringtone (newer firmwares ex. 01.19.xx)
    • return to the root of the phones filesystem (a/)
    • here you will find the ringtone database file mentioned above. Delete it.
    • reboot the phone and then you will have a new ringtone

    Notes
    • don't delete stock ringers on the Verizon firmwares, doing so can cause the phone to cease functioning properly. besides, they dont take up much room at all - id say only about 1MB total between all of them. Pictures, videos, media player files, custom themes, and GIN applications each take up more space than the ringers do.
    • if you do delete anything, make sure it is not set in one of the profiles for ANYTHING
    • deleting the ringtone database will reset the ringer profile. that means that all contacts will need to have their ringers reset manually. in general, everything that you had set before may need to be reset after deleting the database file. This process will need to be done every time you add a ringtone.

my signature applies to the Krazr too.

edit.. crap. just realized this thread is like a year old. why oh why do people necro post. DOH!! anyhooooo... the info is there for anyone who wants it.

It could be a problem where you have to delete a file for the new ring tones to be displayed. Telus does this to make you have to purchase the ring tones. I'm at work but will try to find the name of the file and its location. You have to use a 3rd party software program like p2kman to be able to delete the file. It re-creates itself on reboot.

I was having a simular problem, I created my ringtones in Audio Editor Pro. 20 seconds max length. I used PK2 to transfer them over to the Ringtones directory. They appeared there and could be played, but then I could not select them to add them to a contact. Finally when I was in the Verizon store (my provider) I asked the tech about it. He didn't know for sure, so he sent me a sound file from his phone and it worked. Came home, deleted the ringtones that I had created from the phone, then sent them to my phone by sending them to my#@vzwpix.com and them come in and I save them, and low and behold, they work great. With Verizon there are seperate domains to send text to and pics to, if you send them to the vtxt domain, it will not work, they have to come through the vzwpix domain. I don't know how other providers work, but for this works for Verizon.

I use Datapilot to transfer ringtones. So I left them a message asking if mp3's should work on my phone. They replied that there engineer's are working on it and there will be an updte.
Try this version. I reduced the bit rate to 48. Can't think of what else could be the problem. Rename to mp3.
