both say no credit cks or contractsor deposits. Id hardly be using this phone and dont want minutes that i will be getting charged for even when i dont use it... ill have to look into it more.

i guess i cant use other providers huh? has to be verizon.... im not trading in phones or buying upgrades etc. never wanted this one. so ill just figure out what can work best for me and if its nothing, then i wont bother.

thanks for your help here.. I sort of figured id have to do that. Any way to figure out if this particular phone is a pay as i go type phone??

Do i need to go to a verizon store to do this? I have verizon DSL and a regular land line with them, i wonder if it could be done online or over the phone.

Im not easily sold either, so they arent going to try to get me to have a contract. If this phone cant be used as a pay as i go then ill get rid of it. Im not getting into any contracts or service plans...

    Thanks again

Hey Nancy, Take the phone to a Verizon store and purchase a Pay-As-You-Go Plan. They will set you up with a number and stuff.

P.S Some phones are not pay as you go compatible for some service providers.

My sister gave me her samsung (verizon) phone. She got a new one. How does one go about getting a number for it? I plan on using the phone , by, buying minutes for it. I never had a cell phone and didnt really want this one, but she said to take it and use it for trips or emergencies... I dont want any plans or contracts, thats why im going to use pay as i go or as i need.... But i dont know how i would go about getting a number for it... She also has a lot of things in there that i need to delete and erase. She didnt have the manual for it so i went to samsung and downloaded the quick manual. Its a SCH-A650 model, with the words verizon on it, thats the plan she has now and had.

ANy feedback on this issue would be appreciated. Like i said im new here and NEW to having a cell phone.

    thanks
    nancy
