Well, if you're already paying for the insurance you definitely shouldn't try to fix it yourself because any tampering with the phone will void the warranty. Do they have a phone to lend you while yours is out being repaired? Or, is there another Sprint Store within driving distance that has on-site repair... I understand not all of them do, but all the ones where I live do on-site repairs. When you use the Sprint Store locator on their site, there should be an option to check for that.

Yeah, I haven't seen anyone with a wrist strap on their phone... but there have been times I wish I had one when my phone has slipped out of my hand onto the concrete! Most people use that little nub for dangling charms, which I also think is kinda silly (I'm not attaching anything to my phone that might scratch the casing while in my pocket!).

Is your Katana with Sprint? I would suggest taking it to a Sprint Store and letting them look at it. This is exactly why I pay $6 or whatever it is for the extended service and repair warranty... they fix things for free and if they can't fix it, they just give you a new phone. My Katana didn't cost a penny, the cheapo LG they gave me free with the contract quit working and they said it was covered but it was also a discontinued model so they said, "what color Katana would you like?". I recommend the ESRP (extended warranty) on all Sprint phones because it saves a lot of time and trouble in the long run, I have it on all 3 lines in my contract and have had 2 phones replaced for free.

PS, the silver nub on the side is for a phone charm, wrist strap, etc. and if you try turning it you might break it.

I have had trouble with what seems to be a loose wire internally in the Katana where I have to wiggle the display to hear someone talking. Can it be tightened by the silver nub on the side?
