Airplane mode significantly increases battery life because your phone turns off the radio and does not make or receive any phone calls or messages.

Most of the battery outside of calls is consumed when the phone syncs with the network, usually every 2.5 or 5 seconds. If you call your own cell phone you will notice a slight delay before it rings.

If someone made a mp3 player that used the battery from a slim phone the battery life would be days and the mp3 player would get them rich lol.

Cool, thx -- I found a similar extension of battery when I was traveling outside the country and didn't want to pay for service (if I could even have got it on my Sprint a900?). I put it on airplane mode so I could show people my pix and take a few, and the charge lasted almost 2 wks!

I have read a lot of reviews on this phone and the main gripe is about the battery losing its charge pretty quick.

I found one way to lengthen it was to turn off the GPS locator. Turning location off will disable the GPS location function for all purposes except 911, but it will not hide your general location based on the cell site serving your cell. No application or service may use your location without your request or permission.

To do this, go to Settings, Others, Location. Choose OK to turn on/off. I did this and all I can say is WOW, what a difference it makes in the battery holding its charge. I no longer have to charge the phone every night, I can go 2, sometimes 3 days before getting the last bar.

Not something the carriers tell you about the battery in this phone.
