You can ask what is available.

You won't get to choose from much.

(So, don't plan on getting a specific #.)

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I previously lost my pre-paid cingular phone, and since I want to sign-up for a contract service with AT&T, they won't let me keep my old number.

The other option that I would prefer is to pick my own number (like a vanity number except with a local area code, not 800). I dialed that number and it is not in service, which should indicate that its up for grabs. The Service provider is not important if I get this number.

Is there anyway for me to pick my own number?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
