Yes there is a way to get by this limit. There is a program you can download called Cool Edit. Its a music editing software that allows you to take mp3s, wavs, midis, etc.... and edit them. i use it to make ringtones. Once you've edited the selection of your song and made your ringtone, you can convert it to a wma file and it will be under 300kb. Ive done this with about 20 ringtones already.

Just search cool edit pro 2.1 on google and youll find a free download.

No is the right answer, but there are some ways to work around it.

    - A ringtone (from a call) will last only 30 seconds anyway before a call bounces to voice mail. Actually less as connection time before the tone counts goes against the time.
    - at 128k bit rate you get 15-20 seconds at best with an mp3.
    - You can use a tool like 'Audacity' which is free to edit out and save portions of mp3 files.
    - With Audacity you can alway lower the bit rate (I used 96k) without much loss in quality. This gets you a few more seconds of ringtone.
    - The phone doesn't mind the mp3 or bitrate as long as it is below 300kb

Get the cingular branded phone and the ring tone size is 600 and the att is only 300. So, yes there is a way.

    Hope this helps.

Read this post... or go use the search function. Have fun. BTW, there is no way around the 300~400 kb limit for the sound file on the SCHa930. My suggestion is for you to get a blackberry or other high-function phone that plays mp3s and allows them to be automatically put as ringtones instead of the games we have to play to put them on our current cell phones. Good luck.

    Peace
