I have run into this too. One, you can call your provider and have them increase your ring time.

Also, get the Cingular Branded 707, theirs are 600k and the new (crapy) at&t is 300k. Good luck.

Heck, I can't figure out how to block my caller id, the menu shows I can hide it, but calls won't go through.. go figure..

When putting ringtones on your phone there's two things you need to be conscious of, the size of the file and the length of the file. The file you transferred to your phone is 3mb, the max it can be to be used as a ringtone is 300kb. 3M=3mb, 300k=300kb.

I use JetAudioVX Plus, the best media player on the planet, to make my ringtones and I have found that I can get 30 second ringtones under 300k by saving them at 80bps. You can click on the link in my sig to see the ringtones I've made, download some if you want. So the short answer is to save your 15 second tone file at 80bps so the file isn't so large, I'd guess that it's up around 128-192bps right now.

I do not have a samsung a707 but I have a samsung T809. i think its problem can be solved by changing the extension of the music file. In other words follow these steps:
1. make a copy of your orginal music on your computer
2. then change the extension .mp3 to .3gp. You can do this by right clicking the file and then renaming it.
And then when you will transfer the file to your cell phone, you can make it as your ringtone.

i just got my sync and customized the hell out of it. I make my own ringtones and what works best is to make sure theyre mp3 under 200k. and the bi rate should be 64 not like 192 or 320.

i believe the max size for ring tones is 600 K i have a few that are almost 50 seconds long. the thing is you got to convert to mp3 and change the bit rate. ive converted all my ring tones to 96 kbs 44100 hz n they work perfectly

yea i realize the max is 300k, but it was sending the ringtones to my phone as megabyte files instead of kilobyte, but i fixed it i think. i converted them to mp3 instead of wav. the bad thing is that in order for the ringtones to be less than 300k i can only make ringtones that are 18 seconds long or less. but its fine. at least i have ringtones now!
