    It would help if you identified the phone model. CDMA phones default to the last four digits of the telephone number while GSM phones default to 00000000. If the original owner changed the password, the phone has to be reset to return the password to the default if you do not know the new password. The code for resetting many Samsung phones is *2767*3855# If this is the correct reset code, you will be warned before you confirm it. If you are given any warning other than the phone is about to be reset, cancel out of the process and do a Google search for Samsung reset codes.
