Yes, it can be done. I have the Samsung a930 and I use the dell inspiron 1525. I use the usb cable and BITPIM and I have transferred pictures and video and data. First, you have to detect your phone on bitpim and sometimes thats a pain in the ass. If it doesn't find it, you have to maybe switch usb ports, do whatever until the computer finds your phone. I got it to work, swear to god.

I have no idea what you folks are talking about. I want to connect my phone to my PC via a USB Cable that I purchased, and you're all talking about BT Dongle, BlueTooth, DUN BT, DT & OBEX. With the exception of BlueTooth, I have no idea what those are terms mean, or how they relate to connecting via a USB Cable.

Can anyone simply tell me whether or not I can transfer data between my Verizon Samsung A930 and my WinXP PC using a USB Cable? If not, can I transfer data via BlueTooth, and what do I need to do that?

    Thanks

Ok, I have had this phone for some time now and am fairly happy with it.
I use a 1gb memory card to do my DT.

As far as ringtones, they have to be in .mid format. So just rename the file extention from .mp3 to .mid and that works great! Just use winamp to change the tags, they have to have a artist name and song name in order to be picked up by the phone.

As for using the player for music, just convert them to .wma then it works good too. Even using the onboard speaker works pretty good for playback, tho i suggest using a headset.

The only thing i cant figure out is how to use DL'ed games...if anyone has this figured out i would love to know.

    Thnx and GL

There is a way to unlock the DUN BT function, but there is no OBEX support on that phone.

I could be wrong, but I believe Verizon does have OBEX capable phones.

I have read many posts looking for data cables and drivers, and many of the responses and suggestions. And I have tried a whole bunch of them, with no success. I purchased the PCB113VBE cable, and have tried several programs (both purchased and the free Bitpim), and have had no success.

I am totally convinced that it can not be done, and would love to have someone prove me wrong. In the meantime, my suggestion would be to stop wasting your time looking for the software, cable and/or driver.
I was gonna suggest a BT dongle but it doesn't look like your phone supports BT file transfers......so much for that idea.
