i wouldnt suggest the prepaid thing because you end up spending more on a prepaid plan due to text and multimedia than you would a monthly.. but if you insist you should know what prepaid plan is offered in your area. i say the one you could never mistake would be the boost phone from nextel if you purchase a boost phone from ebay there is no question that you would be able to use it for prepaid another popular prepaid phone is the sidekick2 i hope this helped

I live 50/50 in two different areas. I have a unique and very cool number for my original home market area which I could never get again. So I didn't ever want to give that number up. I still use it as a primary number. I also wanted a local number in my 2nd area so I got a prepaid number. Got it with TMobile. I was very pleased with the service. Give it a solid thumbs up. I also got a Cingulbar prepaid account at the same time and was very disappointed with that service.

    I'd go with TMo.

Phones don't have to be made for prepaid service, but they do have to work with the provider in question.

Most providers sell new phones pretty cheaply, but it's definitely possible to get a used phone.

You need first to decide what provider you want to use - then it will be a lot easier to decide what phone to get. Phone carriers have different technologies that are not inter-compatible. Also, many phones are locked to only work with the provider for which they were sold, so even if the technology is the same as the provider you want to use, you may not be permitted to use the device because of the lock.
