I use makeownringtone.com for the same purpose. It's free.
It makes ringtones with optimal quality and loudness. Doesn't require registration.

    Hi

22kHz will also work as it will half the file size, allthough the length of your tones doesn't seem too long, so 44kHz will probably be just fine. Converting to mono from Stereo also halves the file size more or less, so use mono.

You have been a great help XJ. As soon as I reach ten posts, I will let you know the site. And you can have the tones for nothing if you want them. If you have a woman in you life then I am sure she would appreciate them.

    Kind regards

If it's just speaking, then you can go as low as 32hz, but don't go lower thank 96kbps.

I would also do mono, as most phones don't have stereo speakers anyway, plus it's just speaking.

Sorry XJ. Do the specifications change if the ringtones is shorter. And what about stereo/mono?

    Thanks for your time.

Actually they vary in length and have to have a gap at the end of the gate. Some are 7 seconds some around 15, and then they loop automatically.

    thanks again.

actually I have the website already. I wanted to give the name to you so you could take a look. It will make you laugh, they are comedy british ringtones but I don't have enough posts so they won't let me show you.

I appreciate you time. One last question. These are actually voice tones so will your specifications be good for two british actors speaking very clearly.

    regards

    Here's what I do for mp3 ringtones:

30 seconds in length, no more (any more is a waste)
    44hz
    96kbps

This seems to be the best quality to size ratio for me.

Getting it on someones phone? The best way is direct download...do you know how to code? can you build a website allowing direct access to an mp3 on your server after they paid you? Most providers give you a direct link to the mp3 (usually via text message) and that directly downloads the ring to the phone.

PS I would up your rep if I knew how. As a small player in a room trying to make some cash for the family you rely on the help of others.

    Thanks XJ

Is there any specifics when recording the MP3 i.e frequency, stereo or mono. Any specifications that I should be aware of?

And of course. This still doesn't solve the problem of putting them direct to phone but downloading to PC or MAC should at least be easier if they are MP3 or course. And then easier from PC or MAC to phone via Bluetooth or a USB cable? This is stuff I have learnt in the last few days!!!

mp3 seems to be the format of choice for ringers in most phones that support "voice ringers". Get yourself an audio editor like audacity or goldwave and convert the wavs to mp3's. There is unfortunately not a "standard" that all phones use, some use mmf, some use midi, some mp3, some wav...the only option to please all is to have something that converts the ringtone automatically depending on the phone. If you want to be everything to everyone, it will take a lot of coding, and a lot of time and effort.

    Hello All

I wonder if you can help. I have written some voice tones. I recorded them on WAV Stereo, 44.1 at what Khz I don't know. In fact I haven't a clue what any of that last sentence means. I set up a website and wish to sell them. The problem is that nobody seem to be able to get them onto their computers, let alone transfer them to their mobile. Ideally I would love to have people buy them straight to their mobile. I am just a guy with an idea, I wonder if someone could steer me in the right direction technically. i.e. what is the idea recording format. Is there a standard format across all mobiles. What about international?

    Please help a technical dunce?

ps. I don't have alot of money (the reason why I need to set this up in the first place)
