Same here, it did not recognize my memory card ( i never used it anyway) and I took it out and things are back to normal.

I had exactly the same problem with my Samsung Blackjack.
The phone was normal for about 8 month and suddenly it started to get real hot in the upper section. Mostly on the back near the mirror area next to the camera lent. Battery was draining too fast. Also I notice that I could not access the Storage Card Data. After removing the storage card the phone continued to work normally again.

I have had the same problem--after 9 months of normal battery life and acceptable phone performance--with hot phone and very short battery life, even with no telephone use. AT&T has replaced my phone twice, but the problem is not fixed. I have swapped batteries, but have not seen any significant difference.

Until the issue first occurred two weeks ago, I was getting 24 hours of battery life, even with 30 to 60 minutes of phone use every day. No settings have changed. I do have a 2 GB storage card.

I have no idea what to do next. I have been told by staff in the AT&T store that this has been a frequent problem, but they had not suggestion for resolution except to get the phone replaced by customer service. If someone has solved this problem, please let me know.

Send it back with a letter explaining the problem 1 & 2 and ask them to send you a new phone and that will probably solve the problem. Good Luck

Ok...so new problem. I sent the phone back to Samsung and they returned it with a note saying that it was a software problem and that they fixed it. Upon testing it however, the problem was still there and the phone was no better than when I sent it off. However, I realized that the hottest part of the phone was right where the storage card sits and so I took that out and left it out. That stopped the heat and the quick battery drain that I had been experiencing. The phone then phone proceeded to work perfectly.

Much to my dismay however, after a couple days, a new problem arose. Now, the phone randomly turns off. It will be in my pocket or in my hand while I'm making a call or texting and all of a sudden will go to the "Goodbye" screen where it makes the whooshing noise and turn off. It turns on again no problem when I press power, still with plenty of battery charge. But this will happen repeatedly throughout the day (and seems to occur in clumps...it will be fine for a long time and then suddenly turn off and keep turning off for awhile...then go back to being fine). I also noticed that it seems to happen more often when the phone is moving (in my hands or in my pocket when I am walking) but I'm pretty sure it has turned off while it was laying still before. The only other observation is that it seems like the phone will sometimes go to the Quick List menu (the menu that pops up when you press power once) before it turns off (although again this isn't always the case).

I'm guessing that I am going to just have to have Samsung/AT&T look at it again but I don't have too much faith in them considering that did absolutely nothing last time I sent them my phone. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

It is hot regardless of whether or not its plugged in. I only have one battery so can't test it with another.

Is the phone only overheating when you have your wall/car charger plugged in? If so it may actually be an issue with the adapter. Is this happening with both batteries (your phone should have come with 2, or at least they do now)?

My blackjack is doing two things:
    1. Its battery can't hold a charge. I will plug it in and let the charging meter go to full. Within an hour of unplugging it, the battery will run out and I will get the low battery alert.
    2. The back of the phone gets very hot on the top left corner.

I would have assumed that I needed a new battery if only the first problem was happening but since the phone is getting hot to touch I imagine it is something more.

Any ideas of what the problem could be? Thanks.
