Dont worry about using an unlocked gsm phone. It will not damage the phone/sim/service. unlocking a cdma is a different story, it does not damage anything either...I just get a lot of errors when using web/text.

You know what..i'm just gonna go buy my voyager..I dont wanna be cheap.. mm..If I start saving now..i'll have it by..mmm..November

Just make sure that the seller has alot of positive feedback, and that they have sold cellphones in the past that were acceptable to the buyer.
Yup, Ebay is a great place to start and like Ellen mentioned, check out the seller's feedback. Also, check HowardForums-they have many Buy/Sell/Trade treads and there's a huge one for GSM phones. Again, proceed with caution

How do you get these gsm phones?? Where do you get them? Do you have to get them online or can I go to a store to get them? Please let me know....I'm getting desperate.

Another thing that bothers me is now there is an $18 "upgrade" fee when you want a new phone!! I've been waiting for T-Mobile to blow everyone out of the water but it just seems like things are getting worse. Why do I need to pay $18 just to upgrade?? Even if I qualify for a full discount, I still have to pay that fee. It doesn't make any sense.....the way things are going, I might have to go to Cricket and that will suck.

T-Mobile phone lineup is always a disaster, nothing new
granted, T-Mobile network is wide open to unlocked phones
once AWS supported unlocked 3G phones are release, I can say goodbye to T-Mobile branded phones forever

No, I haven't tried unlocking any phones yet.....I have thought about it. I was gonna take that sidekick back today I decided it would be pointless since none of the other phones are worth getting...uuugggghhhh.....how reliable is unlocking phones though? I'm afraid of it getting messed up...but if its reliable, its I'll try it out!

I LOVE Tmobile because of their affordable plans...I've been with them since 2004, but my main complaint is that they never have any of the cool phones!! If they do, they cost 80 billion dollars and then you have to have to buy additional things to make it worth while. I fell in love with the sidekick slide when I saw it, but I'm gonna take it back. I just can't do it. I can't pay a ton more when it doesn't have simple things like a calculator (only if you purchase the sidekick plan to be able to download apps) or video. I knew it didn't have video to begin with, but I thought something else major would make up for it. I'm tired of seeing all the cool phone go to Verizon and Cingular (especially Cingular since they screwed me over in the past). If there are any T-Mobile higher ups out there....please hear my plea for affordable phones that are not some form of Motorola Razr or the same Samsung in 8 different colors!!!! If you notice on the website, its showing phones that don't even have color screens on the front of flip phones and that dont have picture ID?? Are we downgrading??? What's up???? sheesh......
