On AT&T, I believe they must be under 300kb and less that 20 seconds long to be set as ringtone, otherwise you get that error message.

I'd also love to know if anyone knows how to get around this or a crack.

Hello, I've just recently bought a New LG Shine TU720R Model phone.. I am with Rogers Wireless Provider. My problem is that Rogers somehow has a monopoly on their Ringtones, that you have to download them from there website through your phone, if not.. you cannot make them your Ringtone.

I have tried downloading Ringtones through 3rd Party websites and also, by hooking up my phone directly to my computer. It will transfer fine, However under my settings page, Audio & Ring Tunes, it will only show me my 10 preset MP3 Ringtones.. However under my Media page Audio & Ring Tunes it will show my 10 preset Mp3's also the downloaded Mp3's from the net, and computer.. My phone will recognize them, and play them as a media file.. but when I click on the options menu, I've got the 4 lists.. #1 Send Via.. #2 Delete.. #3 rename.. and #4 Information..

However if I download through the Rogers website.. the ringtones will appear in both my settings page, and my media page.. also my menu list changes from #1 to Set as Ringtune..

So somehow my phone knows whether or not the MP3 has been downloaded directly from Rogers (a monopoly, also like $4 each song) or if I used a 3rd party or from my computer..

One other quick thing.. is under the information for the 2 songs that I did download from the Rogers site.. it is a file ( *.dm) but the icon does say that it is a MP3.. I don't know if this matters at all..

So if anyone knows anything about this.. and how to bypass paying to use ringtones.. I'd appreciate it.. I don't know if I need to Unlock my phone.. or get some kind of crack that will allow me to use my own media as ringtones..

    Thx a lot, Mike
