oh and by the way...Its not a cover that i have on my voyager...its called a MAXXWRAP...I will never get fingerprints on the touchscreen...like other people they have to keep rubbing the screen to get their fingerprints and clean up the screen...

Thanks, but I don't need to find out about covers for my new phone. I am very careful and I treat all my things very gently anyway. Besides, Verizon threw in a Bluetooth headset, a car charger, and a case to sweeten up the deal for sticking with them.

BD: That guide is GREAT! Thanks for posting the link - it gives me all kinds of info to let me do what I want to do, along with giving vital info of the various types of media I need to look for.

I can use the microSD cards, format them, and stick them into all of the 5 phones my family has - and according to Verizon each of those phones can hold up to 4Gb of data on a memory card! I'm only getting 1Gb cards though -- no one in the family needs that much memory. I also checked with a Verizon outlet store and according to the plan I have I can message myself (or any phone in our plan) for FREE so the hardest part will be finding the ringtones that I want to use. My personal taste does not include any hip-hop, rap, or teenie-bop stuff -- I'd like to have something by Heart or The Cars, or even strange stuff like Talk Talk by the group Talk Talk. BossDragon: a big and hearty thanks to you for getting me pointed in the right direction. Hidden Content

Yes...there is much easier ways of getting ringtones to your phone than going to some site and registering to get your email and/or phone spammed.

Grab a program called bitpim....its totally free on the internet. Buy a Data cable with drivers....or get the V Cast Music Essential's Kit from any Verizon Store and your set to add wallpapers, ringtones, etc to your phone.

There is a sticky on the 9800/9900 that explains all you need to know on how to make and put ringtones on your phone.

I do it this way because I can make my own ringtones with exactly the part of the song that I want to hear. If, after awhile, I want to change, it very easy.

oops...forgot to give you a link to the sticky thread: Hidden Content

No, none of my family got the Voyager. As cool as it looked (and it was rated the best Verizon phone by CNet) it had more stuff on it than I would ever use.

I'll try going to that site you suggested, but there's still the rub of getting the phone to actually recognize the file as a ringtone and letting you use it as such. I already found some .mp3 files to use as ringtones and placed them into the proper folder on the formatted SD card, as I mentioned previously. However, when I try to get the phone to add those files as ringtones, it doesn't see them as ringtones, but rather as a sound file that I can play.

What I need help with is getting the phones to use those sound files as ringtones, not simply play them.

    Thanks again.

Have you had any experience with the voyager yet?

I looked through some of the topics and didn't find an answer yet so I thought I'd start a thread that hopefully doesn't ask the same stuff for the 1000th time...hehe

...anyway, our family just got our 2nd round of phones with Verizon and we all got LG phones - the enV and the Chocolate. Now, I know you can pay at the Verizon site for each and every ringtone at an outrageous price ($2.99 each!) but according to people on this site it's much easier.

Okay, so following some advice I got a microSD card and formatted it in the phone, creating 4 folders. I then copied/pasted some .mp3 files and .jpgs into these folders then slapped the microSD card back into the phone. I was easily able to navigate to those spaces on the card to select a new wallpaper but when I tried to go to 'Get it Now' to grab one of the files to use as a ringtone the phone wouldn't "see" the file and let me use it. I think I read that I need to SMS the file to myself and then the phone will ask me if I want to use it as a ringtone, but I also saw that you are charged .25 to do this. I guess my question is: is there any other way to have the phone get these files recognized as ringtones other than e-mailing to myself, and if my family is on the unlimited messaging plan by Verizon would I still get charged for e-mailing my own phone? Would it be easier to buy one of those data cable/software suites for about $30 and just use those or do those have restrictions too?

Thanks in advance for your replies.
