May be you just have a bad card. I have read that a lot of people are using a 2gb card, and I see at&t is selling the 2gb card for the sync.

Thanks for the reply. I looked for this info in the user manual and can't find it. I also looked on AT&T's websight and it doesn't say the capacity. However, they have a 2gb card listed as an optional accessory, the same one I have. So that told me it should work. I think it's odd that it works some of the time but not others. Seems like if it was too big it wouldn't work at all. Maybe I'll try a 1gb card and see what happens.

What Is The Maximum Storage Card Size Compatible With My SGH-a707 (Sync)?

What Is The Maximum Storage Card Size Compatible With My SGH-a707 (Sync)?

    Removable Memory

    Slot Type: MicroSD
    Card Type Supported: TransFlash
    Recommend Card Size: 512MB
    Maximum Capacity: 1 GB
Recommendation: Although this handset supports a larger capacity (1GB) memory card, 512MB is the largest capacity recommended for optimum performance.

Important Notice: The new microSDHC cards, with the capacity of 4 GB or greater, are not supported on this handset.

I know a lot of people say a 2gb works, this is what samung web site says will work. I use a 1gb and have to remove card and reinstall it after I turn it off and then on. It may be the card is the problem.

I have a memory card problem with my Samsung Sync SGH A707. I have the AT&T version of this phone. The phone itself works great but it has issues with a new Sandisk 2GB micro SD card that I purchased for it. When I first tried to use the card, the phone would not recognize it at all until I removed and re-inserted it several times. I kept getting the "unrecognized format" error and it asked me if I wanted to format it. If I said yes it just gave me an error. Finally it started working, so I pulled the card out, put it in the card reader on my laptop and loaded it up with mp3's. When I put it back in the phone, I kept getting the "unrecognized format" message again. So again I removed and reinserted the card repeatedly until it started working.

Now that I got past the initial problems, it randomly stops working. This happens without turning the phone off. To fix it I have to remove and reinsert the card again, sometimes more than once. I have the camera set to save pictures to the memory card but frequently it will not save the picture because it has stopped being able to read/write to the memory card. Of course I don't find this out until I have already taken the picuture, and once it can't save it the picture is lost. Yes I could work around this by saving the pictures to the phone's memory but then I will constantly be moving them to the card (when it decides to work) and I shouldn't have to do this. This is extremely annoying and a big disappointment with such a nice phone. To me it's useless without being able to depend on the memory card working without having to constanlty take it out and put it back in.

Does anyone have a fix for this or is the phone just defective and there is nothing I can do to fix it?

    TIA

    Dave
