ya hghlander i tryed bluetooth on my comp and there isnt any data transfer. I also have dataPilot and the only thing it will do is contact list sync and modem. no wallpaper ringtone or camera pictures.

but what my problem is when i use my u420 as a modem through alltel then the battery dies after 2 hour and i have to put the phone on the wall changer so i want a way to charge the phone with my comp.

Not sure if anyone has covered this or not, but Samsung U420 will only connect to headset via bluetooth. Although my laptop will see the phone via bluetooth, transfer is not available. To transfer, you will need a cable (mine is Sam T809) and a program called BitPim, available here Welcome to BitPim . If anyone needs assistance with using the software, message me.

On another note, anyone have drivers for Susteen Datapilot that will make it recognize the U420? If so, I'd love to have them.

Here's a little gift. It's real nice, found it at Target, it's on sale

Will require a bit of reading but should have everything you need to start making the sweet passion with your "Nimbus"

Yeah, it seems that the bluetooth is only for headset pairing

Anyone have any new info? Anyone found a data cable that will work?

Any Updates anyone? I like the phone, but not it's lack of features. Dare I say I almost miss my Razr? It's a shame Alltel doesn't offer a very well thought out product line to choose from.

Yeah, reallly. Let us all know how it goes!
Someone on the brew forums got a data cable to work and said this...

I was able to connect with standard Samsung drivers, the computer recognized the handset as COM9 on my computer, and in AppLoader--it found the phone after I changed the settings to 1.x/2.x and connected.

Once connected at 1.x/2.x, create a /mif folder under the /brew folder. Disconnect and reconnect under 3.x. Your applications will be able to be installed now under 3.x methodology for installation.

Also, the game will not show up under the Menu >> Apps folder. You'll have to use the right directional key to access the Apps folder to find your installed application.

It seems for some odd reason Samsung decided last minute to cut out File Transfer (FTP) and OPP, from all options of bluetooth even going as far as NOT marketing a USB data cable! Possibly for the fact Alltel wanted to push their Axcess Plans by forcing customers to download exclusively from their network! In turn charging us for Airtime and the Downloads adding up to alot of $$ in the end, but I think samsung is just hiding it from us - I have yet to test this theory but the Data Cables for the SGH-D800 / SGH-D807 / SGH-D820 / SGH-T809 / SGH-P300 / SGH-T509 / SGH-Z510 / SGH-Z540 All look very simular to the USB input on the SCH-U420! I have purchased one of these Data Cables off eBay for $6.00 including Shipping. I think the only problem I will have is finding drivers and software to access the phones firmware. Their are several aspects I like about the SCH-U420 but some I want to change and if I can get a Data Cable and working software. I can mod the crap out of this phone!!!

not sure about the bluetooth thing, wondering that myself. But as for the taking a picture thing, my old audiovox phone was like that, you would take a pic with the camera adn there would be blank spots on the top and bottom of it when i made it my wallpaper, it was just cause the pics taken werent the right size for the wallpaper.

Anyone? Another question has come up. When a picture is taken and set to wall paper, there is a very annoying white line above and below the pic on the main screen. The preset images fill the entire screen. Any ideas on how to fix this? I have tried all settings and played a bit, but I can not seem to figure it out. By the way, I still can not transfer files with bluetooth. I have emailed Samsung but have not received a reply yet. Thanks.

Hi. I was wondering if the SCH-U420 nimbus offered by Alltel was capable of utilizing bluetooth to transfer data such as wallpaper & ringtones from another device such as a Pocket PC. I have had no trouble pairing with my bluetooth headset, but I cannot connect with my Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC or my old Motorola Razr to transfer data. If I can not, does anyone know if there is an update or software I can try. I can not even find a data cable for the PC. I did notice a "PC Connection" tab in the bluetooth menu...but why would it allow connection with a bluetooth PC unless you could share data?????? I really like this little phone, but I miss not sharing files. Please help if you can. Thanks.
