    The more colors the screen can show the better. Organic Light Emmiting Diode (OLED) screens do a bit better as well. Best bet is to keep any phone OUT of direct sun-light. Seeing as you're looking to use it -the phone- while on a boat, this may be a bit hard to do.

    Keep in mind that even the options I gave above aren't 100%. NO screen is going to provide you with the same quality as you'd get indoors while in full on sun light.
