The LG VX8700 is not the same Shine as you are thinking of. The 8700 is a cdma phone that was part of the same development series as the ATT Shine so some people tenderly refer to the 8700 as the shine as well. I looked it up on Bell's site and they do offer the 8700 to their users.

Thanks for the reply... I love the LG Shine but I don't think there is a CDMA version available?

How common of a feature is that? I ask because I'm long overdue for a new cell phone, and as dumb as this sounds, the feature I'm really looking for is a way to upload MP3s and assign them as the SMS-alert sound... unfortunately there's no easy way to search for phones with that feature, because nobody really lists it as a 'feature'. I know it's fairly common to assign MP3s as *ringtones* but I am not sure about doing the same for SMS sounds... if anybody can suggest some CDMA (Bell Mobility) phones that support this feature I'd really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

You can program the volume and tone for text messages on practically any phone. I guess the only way to make your decision is to go through them and see what tone is the loudest and longest.

You can always get them an alarm clock too!

Hello, We need a phone that will wake up our on call person if they are sleeping. So, we need a phone that will ring loudly and long enough to wake someone up when the phone receives a text message. Thanks in advance for your help!
