most smartphone has full-speed usb controller, so they can only go up to 12Mbps. Whereas ipod is high speed usb, which is up to 480Mbps.

Depending on whats the pocket pc u are refering to, they can either be high-speed or full speed. If you are asking a particular model, let me know and i will find it out for u.

So far i know Blackberry Pearl 8120/8130 are high-speed usb smartphones.

    Certainly!
And of course the flash storage in the ipod!

Resp. the slow storage cads in the pocket Pc's!?

iPod is faster becuase it has a better/faster USB controller. Altho both ipod and smartphones has USB v2.0, iPod is really Hi-Speed while most smartphones are Full-Speed only. Thus, ipod is faster.

There are some rare phones that has USB performance matching the ipod's. That would be the blackberry Pearl 2. Hi-Speed USB, up to 15Mbps. All thanks for a Fast USB controller "Antioch(TM)" from Cypress Semi.

Why is the ipod so fast in syncing? Is it because of the special link between Comp and Ipod? (resp. usb is so slow?)
    greetings

tats pretty cool man, thx! prolly iphone is the only phone to match the speed of an ipod.

I agree, phone dont really need to be as fast as ipods or MP3. but for the phones that features walkman or multimedia, they should acheive the same speed as a MP3. you know, just to be fair.

I use W810 as my music player, but its transfer rate is pretty slow, i use the card reader instead.

    Salut TheTyTNIII!

I synchronized about 400 MB (a few Podcasts & 2 album) in 8 Minutes it is not the Ipodspeed (2 Min) but it works and to my mind that is the most significant!
