Yeah, I kept the original. I figured if I had to return it, I could put it back together and it would be hard for them to tell I had another faceplate on.

If you just want to change the color of your phone it is good to get what is now called a phone shield. These come in many colors and designs and they just snap on top of the current housing of your phone which means, your phone is also protected from light drops and scratches.

I have a Blackberry 8320 and loving it! I use it as a modem for my laptop on out of town trips all the time.
